Only Murders In The Building Season 2 Teaser: Steve Martin, Martin Short, And Selena Gomez Have Another Mystery On Their Hands

It's almost time to head back to the Arconia for your favorite true crime show about a true crime podcast ... and actual true crime! If you haven't yet watched the Hulu series "Only Murders In the Building," please call out sick from work, abandon your children to their own devices (they'll be fine), and ignore your responsibilities to watch. Not only does the series star legends Steve Martin and Martin Short, but Selena Gomez is one of the only actors out there who can outshine them and frequently does.

Steve Martin makes cameo in Only Murders costar Selena Gomez's SNL debut as whoopie cushion inventor

Steve Martin made a surprise cameo during Only Murders in the Building costar Selena Gomez's Saturday Night Live hosting debut on May 14. In a documentary sketch about American inventors, Martin portrays Archie Gizmo, the mastermind creator behind the whoopie cushion. The 15-time SNL host details his days as a "struggling gag inventor" in the 1960s with a prototype of the cushion. "I knew it would be funny to have your boss sit down and a noise come from his butt, but I just couldn't figure out what noise," he says to the camera.

On “SNL,” Selena Gomez and Steve Martin Spotlighted Great Inventions

Call it serendipity or synergy; regardless, it seems like this season of SNL has abounded with guests in addition to the guest host. These tend to be co-stars of the host for whatever their latest project is — Daniel Craig appeared in a few sketches when Rami Malek hosted, and last week Elizabeth Olsen joined her Dr. Strange costar Benedict Cumberbatch for a sketch.

'SNL:' Steve Martin Returns for Gag-Filled American Inventors Sketch

It's an Only Murders in the Building reunion! Selena Gomez hosted Saturday Night Live this week, where she showed off her comedic chops. However, in this sketch, it is one of her co-stars from Hulu's Only Murders in the Building that took center stage. In this parody TV show American Inventors, Gomez plays the narrator of the program introducing the inventor of the Whoopee Cushion played by none other than Steve Martin.
