Sophia Smith is a British fashion graduate and model who is best known as the former girlfriend of popular boy band One Direction’s singer and songwriter, Liam Payne. The two dated for over two years since May 2013 and broke up in October 2015. Since being publicly introduced as his girlfriend during the ‘This Is Us’ press conference in August 2013, she has accompanied him to numerous media events. It was confirmed by Liam that the song ‘Illusion’, from the band’s fourth album ‘Four’, was based on his relationship with her. Another song, ‘Wolves’, from their next album ‘Made in the A.M.’, which was co-written by him with fellow band-mate Niall, was also written keeping her in mind and talked about protecting one's girlfriend from sleazy men in a club. In the music video of the song 'Night Changes’, he can be seen holding her hand as he pulls her toward a fair ride. The 2015 Great Gatsby Ball for Trekstock was planned by Sophia and her university friends and was hosted by Liam, who was an ambassador for the charity. In February 2015, they celebrated her 21st birthday together in Australia with a custom cake featuring a replica of their dogs.
