• Three cheers for Saskatchewan skip Sherry Anderson, who on Thursday clinched first place in Pool B at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts. At 57, the Saskatoon-based Anderson is making her ninth appearance at the Canadian women’s curling championship — this time in the fine company of third Nancy Martin, second Chaelynn Kitz, lead Breanne Knapp, alternate Amber Holland and coach Shane Kitz. Anderson makes every curling event better simply by being one of the participants. But she goes far beyond simply participating, as evidenced by the fact that her 6-2 record in pool play matched that of the legendary Jennifer Jones. And to think that, not so long ago, Anderson was battling COVID-19. She is, and always has been, a marvel.
