Shan Foster 'grateful and thankful' as jersey added to Memorial Gymnasium's rafters

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — When Shan Foster traveled from his hometown of Kenner, La., to Nashville for an official visit to Vanderbilt as a 2004 recruit, the Commodores put on what he now calls "a significant show." As part of Vanderbilt's pitch, former coach Kevin Stallings and late former athletic director David Williams compiled a list of imaginary future accomplishments that they believed Foster could attain if he chose to wear the black and gold. By the time Foster's four-year career came to an end in 2008, he had hit every one of those goals except one.

Vanderbilt upsets No. 25 LSU 75-66 on Shan Foster jersey retirement night

With a performance only befitting of Vanderbilt legend Shan Foster’s jersey retirement night, the Vanderbilt Commodores (12-10, 4-6) upset No. 25 LSU (16-7, 4-6) 75-66 behind a season-high 13 3-pointers at Memorial Gymnasium. Fifth-year senior Rodney Chatman led the way for the Commodores with six of those 3s en route to a season-high 24 points—by far the transfer’s best performance in the Black and Gold.
