Wrapping up a disappointing 2021-22 season, Philadelphia Flyers provided injury updates and their off-season plans as they met with the media. As it has gone so often in the 2021-22 season, the Philadelphia Flyers ended their year on a losing note. A 4-2 loss to the Ottawa Senators last Friday gave the club a final record of 25-46-11 for 61 points.

Sean Couturier has back surgery, out for rest of Flyers season

Sean Couturier has been sidelined with numerous injuries since he last played on December 18th. After a maintenance day following the game, Chuck Fletcher spoke on Couturier’s staus and spoke on the various upper and lower body injuries that the veteran forward had been dealing with. He would end up entering COVID protocols the day after missing practice as the Flyers would end up with an early holiday break due to a postponement against the Capitals.

Philadelphia Flyers center Sean Couturier had back surgery at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia by Jon Yoon, MD, the team said Feb. 11. "He started having issues in the fall, tried to battle through," Flyers General Manager Chuck Fletcher said, according to CBS3. "We tried to treat things nonsurgically. Couple epidurals, to be exact, and trying to resolve the issue that was there. Ultimately, you try to do your best to avoid back surgery if you can, but ultimately the doctor and Sean felt confident that the best way to resolve this going forward would be to have this surgical intervention."
