Unforgotten review, season 4: A dollop of high-grade ITV magic

After Covid-related filming delays, the exceedingly likeable detective drama Unforgotten returns to ITV for a fourth six-part series. This first episode begins with a decapitated male body found spilling out of an old freezer at the dump in Haringey – quite literally a cold case, so much so that his skin has acquired the look of over-chilled meat. The only clues to this cadaver’s identity are a Marathon chocolate bar wrapper, dating the death to before the Snickers transition, and a Millwall tattoo.

Sanjeev Bhaskar: 'There was a lot of casual racism growing up - I got it from teachers and bus drivers'

‘Unfortunately, my mind goes straight to Starsky and Hutch,” says Sanjeev Bhaskar, when I ask him about his favourite cop duos. For a teenager of the 1970s, that’s not a surprise, nor is the fact that the former Goodness Gracious Me star used to have on his wall a Charlie’s Angels poster that he’d torn out of a magazine. “I didn’t really rate them as cops,” he confesses.
