“At the minute it has sort of been me that’s been beating myself up rather than me getting beat.”. That’s Sam Lowes addressing where he’s at seven rounds into the 2021 Moto2 season. After winning the two opening races of the year in Qatar, costly DNFs at the ensuing Portugal, France and Italy Grands Prix caused the Marc VDS racer to tumble down the leaderboard to fourth. Undaunted, Lowes knows he has the pace to fulfill his goal of becoming a Moto2 world champion, but needs to minimize the mistakes. RACER spoke to him ahead of this weekend’s German Grand Prix at the Sachsenring.

Sam Lowes continues to be intractable at the start of the season

Sam Lowes is on another level. At least one notch above the rest of the riders on the intermediate category grid. At least so far in the 2021 season, in these first competition and GGPP weekends. A new pole position for a British rider who is proving to be an undeniable dominator.


Sam Lowes is speaking to the global motorcycle racing media on the eve of the 2021 FIM Moto2 World Championship. “We’ve done a good job all winter and now I can look forward to this weekend expecting to have a lot of fun to start the season,” said the Elf Marc VDS Racing Team rider. “My goal for 2021 is to win the Moto2 World Championship.”
