Rangers' Ryan Strome: Hits 20-goal milestone for new high

Strome had a goal and an assist in Thursday's 6-3 win over the Islanders. Strome executed a 2-on-1 down low to perfection with Andrew Copp late in the first period, setting up a tap-in with a saucer pass to complete Copp's first-period natural hat trick. In the final minute of the second, Strome found some room in the high slot with the teams skating four aside and wired a wrister past Semyon Varlamov to give the Rangers a 5-1 lead. The goal was Strome's 20th of the season, marking a new career high for the 28-year-old forward against the team that selected him fifth overall back in 2011.

Does Ryan Strome Haunt the Islanders?

Last night, the Islanders got their doors blown off by the New York Rangers. It wasn't fun in the least and something to add to that displeasure was Sam Rosen spewing a narrative that just frankly doesn't exist. In 20 career games against the Islanders, Ryan Strome has eight points...

Rangers' Ryan Strome: Ties career high in goals

Strome scored two goals -- one on the power play -- in Tuesday's 3-0 win over the Jets. Strome broke a scoreless tie with the extra man late in the second, and that turned out to be the game-winner, as the Rangers registered their third consecutive shutout victory. He added an empty-netter in the third to erase any doubts about the final result. With this two-goal performance, Strome has tied his career high with 19 goals. He's more of a playmaker, but skating alongside star winger Artemi Panarin at even strength and on the top power-play unit should provide Strome with plenty of opportunities to reach the 20-goal mark down the stretch.

Assessing the impending free agency of Rangers center Ryan Strome

After looking at Darcy Kuemper’s upcoming contract situation, we move east and take a look at another tricky contract situation, this time regarding New York Rangers center Ryan Strome. Since arriving in Manhattan in exchange for Ryan Spooner, Strome has begun to realize the potential that got him drafted fifth overall in 2011. Considering the low cost in a trade that it took to acquire him, Strome has been an invaluable “found money” top-six center as the Rangers have clawed their way out of the throes of a major rebuild to become a playoff contender this season. But given the general cap situation of the Rangers, whether the team will be able to keep Strome beyond this season is unknown.

The New York Rangers lineup may be getting some reinforcements by the way of Ryan Strome, who took a full practice. Ryan Strome set to return tonight

Per Vince Mercogliano, Ryan Strome is set to return tonight, taking rotations on the second line in the morning skate. This is the ideal top nine at the moment, and it’s safe to assume the Rangers will get Kaapo Kakko in place of Barclay Goodrow on that third line. Few teams are able to manage multiple injuries to their top-nine, but the Rangers have done so with some solid process. A returning Kakko –when that happens– bumps Goodrow to the fourth line, likely bumping Ryan Reaves or Dryden Hunt out of the lineup.
