Ryan Reaves and Rangers Playoff Hockey

The Rangers came out of the gate playing fast and hard. The first period in game 1 of the 2022 postseason was a successful one. They outhit, outplayed, and effectively outskated the Pittsburgh Penguins for the majority of the period. This can be contributed to the level of tenacity and physicality the team brought during the first twenty minutes of the game. The Rangers were led in hits by the typical player you’d expect in Ryan Reaves but perhaps a bit surprisingly, Alexis Lafrenière was right there with him.

Rangers' Ryan Reaves: Finishes 3-on-1

Reaves scored his fourth goal of the season and added eight hits in Thursday's 6-3 win over the Islanders. Reaves gave the Rangers a 6-2 lead by tapping in a nice setup from Alexis Lafreniere on a 3-on-1 rush. The veteran power forward also threw his body around in this one, as the Islanders couldn't match the Rangers in skill and Reaves made sure they couldn't make up for that disadvantage with physicality.

Rangers’ Ryan Reaves staying patient as time on the bench increases

There was no need for Ryan Reaves to check the lineup card to see if he were dressing for any particular game in the first five-plus months of the season. If No. 75 was healthy, then he was playing on the fourth line. There were also those couple of games when Reaves’ unit was utilized by head coach Gerard Gallant as the third line with a dedicated checking assignment.   But as the year turned to mid-March, Reaves was designated as a healthy scratch for the first time this season .When the Rangers visited Dallas on March 12, Gallant opted to...

Rangers' Ryan Reaves: Explosive game on TNT

Reaves opened the scoring in Wednesday's 5-4 overtime win over the Red Wings with his third goal of the season. Reaves has brought his best performances in front of a national TV audience on TNT, as all three of his goals this year have come in games broadcast on the network. His pass attempt was blocked by Filip Hronek but bounced off Hronek's stick and right back to Reaves, who quickly fired a shot past Alex Nedeljkovic to give the Rangers a 1-0 lead just 3:23 into the game. The veteran power forward has been a staple in the lineup for most of the season, but New York acquired three NHL forwards prior to the trade deadline, which should move Reaves to a rotational role down the stretch.

Ryan Reaves, Blues assistant coach Steve Ott put on an absolute masterclass in NHL chirping

I've never seen any of those "Masterclass" videos, but I get the gist. The elite of the elite of their professions explaining why they are so elite. Simple enough. The sports section of "Masterclass" includes Steph Curry teaching shooting (good guy to teach shooting), Wayne Gretzky teaching the "athlete's mindset," Phil Ivey teaching poker strategy, and more. If we could make a suggestion, there should be a "Masterclass" in NHL chirping, and it should be led by New York Rangers enforcer Ryan Reaves.

Rangers' Ryan Reaves: Raises hit total to 201

Reaves had five hits, two PIM and a minus-2 rating in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Blues. Reaves has provided plenty of veteran leadership and physicality for the Rangers this season, but he was a net negative in this one. Perhaps miffed that St. Louis got away with a couple of uncalled hits from behind earlier, Reaves knocked down Ivan Barbashev away from the puck in the second period, leading to an interference penalty. The Rangers killed it off, but Reaves found himself on the ice for a pair of goals against later in the middle frame. On the bright side, the 35-year-old winger became the second player in the league to cross the 200-hit threshold this season, joining Florida's Radko Gudas.

Rangers Roundup: Ryan Reaves no fan of analytics, Sean Avery released by request, and more

The New York Rangers will square off tomorrow afternoon for the first time against the Pittsburgh Penguins to put some distance between them in the standings. After a 4-1 victory over the Washington Capitals on Thursday, they jumped over the the Penguins, who dropped a 6-1 decision to New Jersey. The Blueshirts are also 5-0-1 in their past six games, with just nine non-shootout goals allowed during that stretch.

Rangers' Ryan Reaves and his stand against racism

Ryan Reaves never has been afraid to make a stand. As one of the NHL’s most feared enforcers, the 35-year-old Rangers winger has gone toe-to-toe with more than his fair share of opponents. Reaves, however, concedes that he was nervous about stepping up two seasons ago in the bubble...

Ryan Reaves revelry defines Rangers’ latest win

Ryan Reaves’ birthday celebration guided the New York Rangers back from a 3-1 deficit at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night. Aside from joining the New York Rangers in the latter stages of their respective NHL careers, Ryan Reaves and Wayne Gretzky don’t appear in the same sentence very often. Wednesday night provided a welcome exception.

OK Daily: Ryan Reaves Scores Two Goals, Panthers Interested in Chychrun?

The Vegas Golden Knights schedule has been interesting as of late. After tonight the team will have only played three games over the span of 15 days. Yet at the same time, they are tied for third in the league for the number of games played with 40. Thursday night the team will cross the halfway point as they take on the struggling Montreal Canadiens. It will be only the second time the two teams have faced off since last year’s Conference Finals.
