Predators' Ryan Ellis: Distributes helper in victory

Ellis posted an assist in a 4-3 double-overtime win over the Hurricanes for Game 4 on Sunday. Ellis is posing quite the challenge for the 'Canes in this opening series, as the 30-year-old already has one goal and three assists. Listed at 5-foot-10 and 180 pounds, Ellis overcomes his relatively small stature due to his hockey smarts, quickness and expending a ton of energy.

Predators' Ryan Ellis: Records helper in loss

Ellis posted an assist, three shots on goal, three blocked shots and two hits in Monday's 5-2 loss to the Hurricanes in Game 1. Ellis earned the secondary assist on Filip Forsberg's first-period goal. The 30-year-old Ellis ended the regular season with nine points in his last 14 games, giving him some momentum ahead of the playoffs. He had 18 points in 35 contests overall in the regular season. The Ontario native is likely to work in a top-four role during the postseason, which should lend him opportunities to get involved on offense like he did Monday.

Predators' Ryan Ellis: Won't play Monday

Ellis is expected to be a healthy scratch for Monday's tilt with the Hurricanes, NHL.com reports. Ellis is one of several regular skaters that Nashville will rest Monday as the team is already locked into a playoff spot. The 30-year-old blueliner ends the season with 18 points and 63 blocked shots in 35 games.

Predators' Ryan Ellis: Adds another two-pointer

Ellis crafted two assists Monday in a 4-3 overtime win over the Blue Jackets. Ellis has three multi-point outings over the last five games, providing an ideal curtain call for fantasy managers vying for a spot in the playoffs. The do-it-all defender started slowly this season and then had to undergo surgery for an upper-body injury, but he should continue to be a useful commodity for the three games remaining on Nashville's regular-season schedule.

Predators' Ryan Ellis: Provides pair of assists

Ellis registered two assists, three blocked shots, two shots on net and a plus-2 rating in Friday's 3-1 win over the Blackhawks. Ellis set up goals by Ryan Johansen and Erik Haula in the contest. The 30-year-old Ellis now has 13 points, 63 shots, 51 blocks and a minus-4 rating through 29 appearances. He'll continue to be a part of the Predators' top four, although he's lacking the scoring touch that allowed him to pile up 38 points in only 49 outings last season.

Predators' Ryan Ellis: Scores in second game back from IR

Ellis scored a goal on two shots and added three hits in Sunday's 3-2 shootout win over the Stars. Ellis scored in his second game back from a 20-game absence due to an upper-body injury. The 30-year-old defenseman has immediately returned to a top-four role. He's produced 10 points, 49 shots on net, 38 blocked shots and 13 hits through 23 outings this year. Ellis provides a little grit with a solid scoring touch -- he could help fantasy managers in deeper formats.

Nashville Predators activate Ryan Ellis

The Nashville Predators are one of the most impressive stories of the season so far. After a brutal first half during which they went 11-16-1, there were questions about GM David Poile’s job security, and many were left wondering just how many of their core pieces they would sell at the deadline. Since then, the Predators are 11-2-0 and now securely in a playoff spot in the Central Division.

Predators' Ryan Ellis: Removed from IR

Ellis (upper body) was activated from injured reserve Saturday, Adam Vingan of The Athletic reports. Ellis hasn't played since Feb. 28, missing the last 20 games after needing surgery. The 30-year-old blueliner has nine points in 21 games this season. He will likely make his return Saturday against the Lightning.

Ryan Ellis to Honor Grandfather with Darlington Throwback

Ryan Ellis tweeted out Wednesday evening that he will be running a throwback paint scheme at Darlington Raceway on Mother’s Day Weekend, honoring his grandfather, Vic Ellis. Vic raced on dirt tracks in the 1950s, but lost his life in a tragic racing accident.

NHL Rumors: Mattias Ekholm, Ryan Ellis, and more Trade Deadline Musings

Adam Vingan of The Athletic: The age-old question of which player is more valuable. From an advanced stats standpoint, that answer is Ryan Ellis. Ellis is the top-ranked defenseman in the league when it comes to goals above replacement. Mattias Ekholm is no slouch at tenth. Most other models point to Ellis having a very slight advantage.

The people’s guide to Ryan Ellis

The Flyers are having a rough go of it this year, to put things nicely. Philly is struggling to execute with consistency, stop pucks and generally do anything right for more than two games in a row. Particularly infuriating has been the play on the blue line this year. While the departure of Matt Niskanen’s steady presence on the top pair was obviously going to hurt, few fans or members of the organization would have thought that they’d be getting massive regression from Phil Myers, Ivan Provorov, and to some extent Travis Sanheim. The “addition” of the tire fire that is Erik Gustafsson to the already gasoline-soaked unit was just the kicker.

NHL Rumors: Mattias Ekholm, Ryan Ellis, Darcy Kuemper, Jonathan Bernier and Devan Dubnyk

TSN: Pierre LeBrun said that Predators defenseman Mattias Ekholm remains the top defenseman that could be available at the trade deadline, and he’s not coming cheap. “It is a three-asset ask to get in on the bidding for Ekholm, which is a first-round pick, an elite prospect and a third asset which can take on different forms. That’s a lot, and part of that is that the Nashville Predators don’t have to trade Mattias Ekholm at this deadline.

Ryan Ellis, Mattias Ekholm among Predators to watch ahead of trade deadline

The Nashville Predators have won three of their last four games and had a familiar face on the ice at Tuesday morning’s skate, as injured captain Roman Josi joined the group while working his way back. The team also had pending unrestricted free agent Mikael Granlund on the ice after he missed the team’s game on Sunday, but still absent were the group of Matt Duchene, Luke Kunin and Ryan Ellis.

Predators' Ryan Ellis: Underwent surgery

Ellis (upper body) underwent surgery earlier this month, Robby Stanley of NHL.com reports. It's unclear exactly what Ellis' procedure was but it helps explain his lengthy absence. Head coach John Hynes pointed out that the 30-year-old blueliner is skating but isn't close to returning yet. He's missed 11 games and doesn't have a set timetable to return.
