From high school to the pros, there was little hardware Ruthy Hebard had yet to collect. Three time Gatorade Player of the Year for Alaska in high school, AP All-American in college and first round pick in the WNBA. The individual awards stack Hebard’s shelves, but the most important trophy (a championship) was one she’d yet to claim.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - The Chicago Sky capped off an improbable playoff run with a WNBA championship on Sunday as they took down the Phoenix Mercury, 80-74 in game four of the Finals series. West Valley High School graduate Ruthy Hebard helped the Sky win their first title in franchise history.

Ruthy Hebard turns in big in night in first start of season

Sabrina Ionescu may have stolen the WNBA limelight over the first week of the season, but a former Oregon teammate made sure she wasn't forgotten on Wednesday night. Ruthy Hebard made her first start of the 2021 season, and seventh of her career, in the team's 85-77 win over the Atlanta Dream. Back in the starting lineup, Hebard nearly set career-bests in both scoring and rebounding, recording her second professional double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
