Lynne Ramsay Sets Joaquin Phoenix Reunion with ‘Polaris,’ Also Starring Rooney Mara

Lynne Ramsay has her sights set on a reunion with her “You Were Never Really Here” star Joaquin Phoenix. During a visit to the Valencia International Film Festival (a.k.a. Cinema Jove), where she was presented with the Luna de Valencia Award, Ramsay revealed Phoenix will lead one of her upcoming new movies. Details on the project remain scarce, although El Espanol (via The Film Stage) reports the movie is to be titled “Polaris” and Rooney Mara is attached to co-star.

Scottish filmmaker Lynne Ramsay is reportedly going to be reuniting with her “You Were Never Really Here” star and Oscar-winner Joaquin Phoenix for a newly announced project titled “Polaris,” with Phoenix’s partner, actress Rooney Mara (“The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo“) taking a role alongside him. Details on the new film are being kept under wraps, but Ramsay revealed the news herself.

In turn, he will be reunited on screen with his real-life partner, Rooney Mara, with whom he’s starred in Her, Mary Magdalene, and Don’t Worry He Won’t Get Far On Foot. It’s like they can’t stay away from one another or something.

EXCLUSIVE: MGM’s Orion Pictures and Plan B Entertainment have set Rooney Mara, Claire Foy, Jessie Buckley, Judith Ivey, Sheila McCarthy, Michelle McLeod and Ben Whishaw to join Frances McDormand in writer/director Sarah Polley’s feature adaptation of Miriam Toews’ bestselling novel Women Talking. Rounding out the cast are August Winter and Liv McNeil and Kate Hallett in their feature film debuts. Plan B will produce Women Talking alongside McDormand via her Hear/Say Productions.
