Frank Martin Drops, Stops Romero Duno In 4th Round On Luis Ortiz-Charles Martin Undercard

Frank Martin has officially launched the 2022 Prospect of the Year race. The unbeaten southpaw from Indianapolis—who now trains in Dallas—picked apart Philippines’ Romero Duno en route to a fourth-round knockout. Martin scored two knockdowns, the latter of which prompted a stoppage at 2:54 of round four Saturday evening on Fox TV from Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida.

Frank Martin wants to prove he’s ready for top lightweights against Romero Duno

When Frank Martin got the nickname “The Ghost,” it wasn’t because of anything supernatural or macabre. He was competing at the 2016 National Golden Gloves in Salt Lake City, Utah when the lights suddenly went out in the workout room. While other boxers stopped exercising, Martin continued to cut weight, using the lights from his friends’ smart phones to see what was in front of him. His shadow danced off the wall as he threw punches and sweated off the ounces.

Frank Martin vs Romero Duno will headline PBC’s non-PPV telecast on Fox

Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) will air a two-hour block of fights prior to Saturday’s FOX Pay-Per-View telecast, a source confirmed to The Ring Monday afternoon. Unbeaten lightweight prospect Frank Martin will face hard-hitting Romero Duno in a 10-round bout. Also on the FOX telecast (5 p.m. ET/ 2 p.m. PT), heavyweights Lenier Pero and Geovany Bruzon will square off in a six-round bout.

Filipino lightweight Romero Duno will face unbeaten prospect Frank Martin in a ten-round bout on Jan. 1 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Fla.
