For the last two years, we’ve been hearing that The Cure has a new album on the way. The long-awaited follow-up to 2004’s 4:13 Dream has felt like just that – a dream. Speaking with NME, lead singer and founder Robert Smith finally revealed when fans can expect Songs Of A Lost World to come out:

Robert Smith Declares The Cure’s First New Album Since 2008 Will Arrive This Year

Robert Smith has been teasing The Cure’s next record for a bit; they haven’t released an LP since 2008’s 4:13 Dream, though they’ve had some fun live singles and collaborations. A couple of months ago, the “Friday I’m In Love” singer told NME: “I know what it’s called – it’s called Songs Of A Lost World. It’s got artwork, it’s got a running order, it’s almost done! They’re so slow because of vinyl, but it might come in September. I’d rather it just came out. I can’t stand the anticipation.”

The frontman and the bassist have been part of the band’s lineup since 1978 and 1979 respectively, helping to turn the band into one of the UK’s most beloved and iconic indie acts.

He attended New York City Tech, where he achieved an Associates Degree. After leaving college he worked security in various locations from Mary Macklin to working security at the NBA Store as the head manager. He enjoyed and valued all friendships. He loved life and spending time with family. After over 30 years of being together on November 16, 2011, he married the love of his life, Bonita Hamilton and they later relocated to North Carolina to enjoy retirement as well as his grandchildren.

Watch The Cure’s Robert Smith Join Chvrches On Four Songs In London

Chvrches have once again teamed up with the Cure singer Robert Smith, following up their joint performance at BandLab NME Awards 2022, where they did two Screen Violence cuts — “Asking For A Friend” (minus Smith) and “How Not To Drown” — and the Cure’s “Just Like Heaven.” Tonight, they all reunited at London’s Brixton Academy, where Smith and the Scottish synth-pop trio revisited their “Just Like Heaven” cover and “How Not To Drown,” and then some.
