Robert Goulet

Robert Gérard Goulet was a ‘Grammy Award’ and ‘Tony Award’-winning American singer, actor, and entertainer of French–Canadian ancestry. In his expansive career, spanning around 6 decades, Goulet made his mark as a stage, TV, and film actor, apart from establishing himself as a singer with many charted singles. He studied acting and singing at ‘The Royal Conservatory of Music’ in Toronto, after earning a scholarship. He began acting in the early 1950s. His real breakthrough, however, was the role of ‘Sir Lancelot’ in the 1960 ‘Broadway’ musical ‘Camelot.’ He rose to fame for his rendition of the song ‘If Ever I Would Leave You’ from ‘Camelot’ that eventually became his signature song. He also appeared in notable stage productions such as the musical ‘The Happy Time’ that won him a ‘Tony Award.’ He appeared in TV programs such as ‘The Danny Thomas Show’ and ‘The Ed Sullivan Show’ that made him a household name in the US. He was also part of successful films such as ‘The Naked Gun 2 1⁄2: The Smell of Fear’ and ‘Beetlejuice.’
