AMI, the French fashion brand founded by Alexandre Mattiussi, has enlisted the talents of auteur Yann Demange and actors Riz Ahmed, Isabelle Adjani, Souheila Yacoub, Sandor Funtek and Suzy Bemba for the short film Dammi دمي Notre sang comme l’amour. Riz Ahmed is finally getting his moment as Hamlet after five years of waiting, and the actor said his version will be nothing like audiences have seen before. “Our Hamlet is an outsider in a wealthy British Indian family, who starts to question his relatives’ morality and his own sanity after encountering his father’s ghost,” Ahmed and director Aneil Karia said in a statement.

Riz Ahmed and Aneil Karia are taking their chance to dream and running with it. Deadline reports that the two have announced they’ll be teaming up to give a modern spin to William Shakespeare’s timeless tragedy, Hamlet. Ahmed will star as the titular Prince of Denmark in a script from Michael Lesslie, the same scribe who was behind 2015’s retelling of Macbeth. Morfydd Clark, who was nominated for the BAFTA Rising Star award in 2021, and The Favourite star, Joe Alwyn, will play Ophelia and Laertes, respectively.
