TAMPA, FL – In recognition of his leadership, years of service, and hard work in making Tampa Bay a vibrant, innovative, and dynamic community, Shumaker and Shumaker Advisors’ Rick Kriseman was awarded the 2022 Men & Women of Distinction’s Gwen Reese Lifetime Achievement Award. Rick was selected by the Gathering of Women’s selection committee, Gwendolyn Reese, and peers in the Tampa Bay community to receive the award, given to those who exemplify a long-standing commitment to the community.

TAMPA, Fla. – Former St. Petersburg (St. Pete) Mayor Rick Kriseman (PHOTO ATTACHED) is joining Shumaker Advisors Florida as Managing Principal of the U.S. Cities Practice, where he will focus on sustainable economic development and urban planning, while working with clients locally and nationally. ST. PETERSBURG — Former mayor Rick Kriseman is joining his counterpart across the bay, ex-Tampa mayor Bob Buckhorn, as a lobbyist at the firm of Shumaker Advisors Florida. Kriseman, who left City Hall this month after eight years in office, will focus on sustainable economic development and urban planning for local and national clients as a managing principal of the firm’s U.S. cities practice, according to Shumaker.

On Oct. 14, St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman kicked off his long goodbye by unveiling a plaque marking the anniversary of a Sister City relationship with Takamatsu, Japan. A whole heck of a lot has changed in the 60 years since the diplomatic agreement between that community 7,516 miles away, but Kriseman—who, outside of a respectable gray beard, doesn’t come off much older than he did at inauguration—was there to start reflecting on changes he’s overseen during the last eight years leading the Sunshine City.

ST. PETERSBURG – The long farewell to Rick Kriseman ends on Thursday afternoon. Then his successor, Ken Welch, will be sworn in as the city’s next mayor. Kriseman has been saying goodbye for weeks with a “Faring Well” tour promoting the city’s progress during his two terms in office.

With a glass of rum and a cheers, Rick Kriseman bid leading the Sunshine City farewell Monday. The air around the St. Petersburg Pier was chilled, and so was the rum. Mayor Rick Kriseman stood on the back deck of Doc Ford’s Monday with the Pier — one of his administrations crowning achievements — his back drop. He held a glass of Bumbu Rum (served shaken, chilled and straight) over his bowed head and gave a cheers to the pride he’s seen in residents of the Sunshine City.

In addition to the achievements of revamping the downtown pier district and building a new police headquarters, the outgoing mayor told 8 On Your Side he hopes the culture of St. Petersburg has changed for the better.

ST. PETERSBURG — Rick Kriseman stood before a crowd and belted out the oldie hit Hooked on a Feeling on the karaoke machine at Cocktail St. Pete. The November night was one of 14 stops on his 2½-month “Faring Well Tour,” during which the mayor marked the end of eight years in the job. It was his way, he said, of thanking the city for the opportunity to lead.

In a few days, I will leave St. Petersburg’s City Hall for the final time as mayor, proud of all we accomplished and with great confidence in the city’s future. I leave with a full heart, grateful for having had the honor and privilege of serving the best citizens in America’s best city, our Sunshine City.
