LONDON — Burberry’s Riccardo Tisci is bringing the spirit of collaboration to his Burberry pre-collections with a new creative series called “Friends and Family.” His first collaborator will be Lea T, a close friend of the designer who has featured in Burberry campaigns, and who walked the spring 2021 runway show. “This series is about a celebration of identity, style and family. I wanted to explore a different experience bringing my collections to life, so I have decided to open up my pre-collection to a new creative voice each season, someone special to me,...
LONDON — Naomi Campbell has placed the bottles and diapers to the side for the moment to pose for Burberry’s TB Summer Monogram collection. Just two months after welcoming a baby girl — her first child — Campbell was back in the studio posing for her pal Riccardo Tisci’s latest campaign.
On Wednesday afternoon, a few hours after his Spring 2022 Burberry menswear collection debuted on Instagram, Riccardo Tisci perched in a tented room, the sun pouring in through the windows and the blue skies framing him like an angel at the center of Renaissance fresco. He was beaming, voluble, and overwhelmed with emotion. “Of course, every show is emotional,” he said, “but sometimes, there is one that has the magic. And this one had the magic. A very strong magic.”
Having presented a nature-inspired menswear range earlier this year, Riccardo Tisci has now returned with the Fall/Winter 2021 womenswear collection for Burberry. Taking place at the house’s Regent Street flagship in London, the show featured looks inspired by feminine energy. “As a single parent, [my mother] raised me and my...
In the show notes for his Fall Winter ’21 collection, revealed digitally today, Burberry chief creative officer Riccardo Tisci included a touching tribute to his mom, who singlehandedly raised him and his eight sisters. With such an impressionable and dedicated matriarch, it’s unsurprising that Tisci has “always been drawn to strong women”—and by proxy, creating the modern-day sartorial armor that they crave.
Burberry’s autumn winter digital show has been a long time coming – most designers showed weeks ago. But when the Duke of Edinburgh died, this behemoth of a British luxury fashion brand, with its two Royal Warrants (to The Queen and Prince Charles), decided to post-pone out of respect. “I’ve...
Riccardo Tisci has titled Burberry's Fall 2021 womenswear collection, which debuted Wednesday, simply "Femininity." The inspiration? His mother. "Throughout my life, my mother has been this incredible force of nature. As a single parent, she raised me and my eight sisters with unfaltering purpose and pride. So, naturally, I have always been drawn to strong women and, in turn, they have also given me the confidence to express my own femininity. They are not afraid to challenge expectations and I have always been in such awe of their determination. They are warriors," he wrote, in a press release, adding that the presentation was "a love letter to women and a celebration of their incomparable strength."
This week, Burberry unveiled its Autumn/Winter 2021 menswear collection. The designs were inspired by the mythic ideals of the British countryside – or the “great outdoors” – with references to animals, hunting, rural cults, and spiritual communes. Fluidity was also a major theme, with the menswear show including both male and female models.
In his first collection with fashion superpower Burberry, Riccardo Tisci applies his extensive use of free expression for a collection that gently challenges the traditions of contemporary menswear. The result is a collection that is vibrant and young in nature, with a focus on layered outwear pieces in thoughtful hues of beige, dark brown, and burgundy.
