Ricardo Chavira

Ricardo Antonio Chavira is an American actor who garnered fame for portraying Carlos Solis in the ABC comedy-drama series ‘Desperate Housewives’ from 2004 and 2012. A Texas native, Chavira was educated at Robert E. Lee High School and the University of the Incarnate Word. Later, he attended the University of California San Diego's Professional Actor Training Program from where he obtained his Master of Fine Arts degree in Acting in 2000. He then relocated to Los Angeles to pursue a career as a professional actor. In the ensuing years, he has established himself in all three mediums of performing arts, stage, theatre, and screen. Chavira made his screen debut in 1987 in the Mexican short film ‘De Vaqueros, aventuras y mas cosas’. He had his cinematic debut 14 years later, in the American comedy film ‘Barstow 2008’. His first television appearance occurred in the same year, in an episode of ‘NYPD Blue’. Along with ‘Desperate Housewives’, Chavira has essayed memorable characters in shows like ‘Six Feet Under’, ‘Welcome to the Family’, ‘Santa Clarita Diet’, ‘Jane the Virgin’, and ‘Scandal’. He is slated to portray Abraham Quintanilla in the upcoming Netflix series ‘Selena’.
