Randy Rhoads
Randall William Rhoads (December 6, 1956 – March 19, 1982) was an American heavy metal guitarist who played with Quiet Riot and Ozzy Osbourne. A devoted student of classical guitar, Rhoads combined his classical music influences with his own heavy metal style. He died in a plane accident while on tour with Osbourne in Florida in 1982. Despite his short career, Rhoads, who was a major influence on neoclassical metal, is cited as an influence by many guitarists. Rhoads is included in several "Greatest Guitarist" lists.

New documentary explores the life and legacy of Ozzy/Quiet Riot guitarist Randy Rhoads

Forty years after his tragic death in a plane crash at age 25, the life of guitarist Randy Rhoads is being explored in a new documentary. Called Randy Rhoads: Reflections of a Guitar Icon, the film is narrated by Tracii Guns and charts Rhoads’ career as the co-founder of Quiet Riot, which he subsequently left to become Ozzy Osbourne‘s guitarist. With Ozzy, he co-wrote legendary songs like “Crazy Train” and “Mr. Crowley” — the solos of which are among the most iconic in heavy metal history — and “Suicide Solution.”
