Athletics' Ramon Laureano: Ready to return from suspension

The Athletics reinstated Laureano (suspension) from the restricted list Sunday, Matt Kawahara of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Oakland has yet to release its lineup for Sunday's series finale in Minnesota, but it'll presumably include Laureano, who is on tap for his season debut after he missed the first 27 games of the campaign while finishing out the 80-game suspension he was handed last August. The 27-year-old was able to stay sharp while he was on suspension by taking part in a rehab assignment in the minors. Over his 10-game stint at Triple-A Las Vegas, Laureano slashed .135/.273/.189 with two doubles and two stolen bases.

Athletics' Ramon Laureano: Leading off in season debut

Laureano (suspension) will start in right field and bat leadoff in Sunday's game in Minnesota, Matt Kawahara of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. After reinstating Laureano from the restricted list earlier Sunday now that he's finished up serving the 80-game suspension he was handed last August, the Athletics won't waste any time breaking the 27-year-old in to a prominent spot in the lineup. Though Laureano slashed an ugly .135/.273/.189 across 44 plate appearances during his 10-game rehab assignment at Triple-A Las Vegas, the Athletics are confident he'll provide a spark atop the lineup once he gets acclimated to playing on an everyday basis. Since debuting in the majors in 2018, Laureano has been an above-league-average hitter in each of his first four seasons, amassing a 118 wRC+ for his career.

Ramon Laureano starting comeback trail to Oakland A’s

Ramon Laureano, in theory, has an important part to play on the Oakland A’s. He is one of the few stars left on the team, someone that the few fans willing to go to the ballpark would pay to watch. Laureano could also serve as a mentor to the younger players, especially Cristian Pache, who is a similar type of player.
