Record Store Day is back to put the drop on vinyl hounds and their long-suffering debit cards. At least, a modified version of it is. As happened last year, pandemic conditions caused the traditional RSD April event to be delayed and broken up into two theoretically crowd-suppressing halves, with the first of two RSD Drops 2021 events happening Saturday.

Prince's estate has released a never-before-heard track that appears on "Welcome 2 America," an album the singer recorded in 2010 that will finally debut in July. The song, "Born 2 Die," is a slow-burning R&B throwback that runs just over five minutes. The song was recorded during a "flurry of studio activity" in the spring of 2010 as Prince reflected on issues facing Black Americans during former President Barack Obama's first term, the artist's estate said.
If there was one thing that was never a good idea, it was telling Prince he couldn't do something. The tenacious, insanely versatile late rock icon took a perceived slight in 2010 and turned it into a slinky, Curtis Mayfield-style social justice anthem that remained unreleased until Thursday (June 3).
Welcome 2 America, the latest (and probably not last), unreleased album from Prince's archives, will see the light of day on July 30 via Legacy. It was recorded in 2010 and "mysteriously archived," and is the first complete studio album to see a posthumous release since Prince's death in 2016. Having released the title track earlier this year, the Prince estate have now shared another song, "Born 2 Die."
