While it wasn’t the most exciting display, Ricci remained in control for most of the fight with Viana stuck playing defense off her back.

Polyana Viana made her return to the cage after a year against Tabatha Ricci at UFC Vegas 55. Going into the bout with two consecutive wins prior, Viana was looking to secure another bonus. After losing her debut in the UFC, Ricci bounced back to win over Maria Oliveira last October.

This weekend, Viana will take on fellow Brazilian Tabitha Ricci on Saturday at the UFC Apex, Las Vegas. Viana will mark her return to competition after 15 months. Making her way into the UFC ranks through Jungle Fight and Watch Out Combat Show, the 29-year-old didn’t have the dream start she hoped for.

A pair of all-Brazilian bouts are set for upcoming events in the spring, multiple people with knowledge of the situation confirmed the news to MMA Fighting. Poliana Botelho is set to welcome flyweight newcomer Karine Silva to the octagon on June 4 while Polyana Viana draws Tabatha Ricci in a strawweight clash on May 21. Ag.
