Over the past two weeks, I have been in contact with several sources regarding the firing of Pierre McGuire. These sources are both league-wide and within the organization on numerous levels. As many of you know, I don't post anything of substance regarding the Ottawa Senators unless I have it verified by at least two sources. Naturally, if I can get more than two sources to confirm what I'm being told it adds more credibility to my story which is what I was able to do regarding this piece.

McGuire joined the Senators organization in the 2021 offseason. It’s not clear what he did with the organization, but the Senators clearly didn’t see a future with him. It could be a sign of more changes in the wake of Eugene Melnyk’s passing and the ownership now in the hands of his daughters.

As much as it came as a surprise when the Ottawa Senators hired Pierre McGuire as senior vice-president of player development July 12, 2021, it was a larger one when TSN1200’s A.J. Jakubec and Steve Lloyd tweeted his firing a mere 10 months later.

According to a report by TSN 1200's AJ Jakubec, the Ottawa Senators have fired Pierre McGuire as the team's senior vice president of player development less than a calendar year after bringing him on board in a shocking move.

The fact a few players are coming back earlier than they originally planned tells you the excitement and faith they have in management and to help out the front office! Maybe there will be some sort of announcement coming on the province’s protocols for new numbers on indoor gatherings and what the team expects fans to do, to attend an event at the CTC.
