During the second night of racing at the 2022 US World Championships Trials, Olympian Phoebe Bacon swam to 200 backstroke victory in US Open record fashion. Bacon threw down a 2:05.08 200 to nab first place and take out Missy Franklin‘s former US Open record of 2:05.68, which she swam in 2013.

Phoebe Bacon Wins as Three Wisconsin Dominates Arizona and Hawaii in Tucson Tri-Meet. The University of Wisconsin and University of Hawaii swim teams both traveled to Tucson, Arizona, this weekend for a two-day affair against the Wildcats, and the Badgers were the dominant team. Wisconsin’s women, led by U.S. Olympian and reigning 200 backstroke NCAA champion Phoebe Bacon, crushed both teams. Wisconsin’s women beat Arizona 221-93 and Hawaii 243-71. Wisconsin’s men won 195-119 over Arizona and 252-62 over Hawaii. Arizona’s women beat Hawaii 210.5-103.5, and the men won 220-95.

Olympian Phoebe Bacon Receives Champion’s Welcome

After competing in the Olympic final for the women’s 200 meter backstroke on Friday, Phoebe Bacon arrived at Dulles Airport Monday evening. Many of Bacon’s friends and family members gave her the greeting of a champion when she arrived. Bacon grew up in Chevy Chase and graduated from Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart in 2020.
