Indians' Phil Maton: Strikes out three in relief

Maton (2-0) gave up one run on three hits while fanning three in one inning Sunday against Pittsburgh. He earned the win. Maton allowed Pittsburgh's lone run of the game, but he also struck out the three batters he retired en route to his second win of the campaign. The right-hander ended a streak of three scoreless outings and has given up runs in three of his seven appearances this month. He owns a 5.86 ERA across 24 appearances (27.2 innings) on the campaign.

Indians' Phil Maton: Scoreless inning Tuesday

Maton allowed two hits and struck out three in a scoreless inning in Tuesday's 7-2 win over Baltimore. Maton has been somewhat inconsistent with 12 runs allowed in his last 13.2 innings, but he was able to get out of a jam in the sixth inning Tuesday. The right-hander has a 6.20 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, 39:9 K:BB and one hold in 24.2 innings. He hasn't pitched well enough so far to earn a higher-leverage role.

Indians' Phil Maton: Earns win over White Sox

Maton (1-0) got the win in Game 2 of Monday's doubleheader against the White Sox after allowing a hit and punching out two in a scoreless sixth. Maton allowed a leadoff double to Yoan Moncada but was able to take care of the next three hitters to get out of the inning with no harm done. The 28-year-old earned both his first win and hold of the year while lowering his ERA to 6.75 to go along with a 26:9 K:BB over 17.1 innings.
