Peter Navarro

Peter Kent Navarro is an American economist who is presently employed as the Assistant to the President and Director of Trade and Manufacturing Policy. He has previously worked as a Deputy Assistant to the President, and Director of the White House National Trade Council. Originally from Massachusetts, Navarro obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from Tufts University before obtaining a Master of Public Administration and a PhD in economics from Harvard University. He spent three years in Thailand working for the US Peace Corps. In the 1970s, he worked as a political analyst for several state and federal agencies. Navarro began his academic career in 1981 at Harvard. Between 1985 and 1988, he was a professor at the University of California, San Diego, and the University of San Diego. In 1989, he began his tenure at the University of California, Irvine, where he is currently a professor emeritus. He has been active in politics since the early 1990s and has been part of the Donald Trump administration since the beginning. Throughout the years, Navarro has released over a dozen books and peer-reviewed economics research on a variety of subjects.
