About 50 years ago, I was fortunate enough to be in the right place at the right time. Shelby American had been growing at an astounding rate due to our success with the Cobras. Our race shop was filled with an interesting assortment of super-talented racing types, including a smooth-talking, lanky ex-racer from Texas and a brilliant, self-taught engineer named Phil Remington. This unlikely combination had changed the direction of American racing.

Peter Brock confirmed for VSCDA Elkhart Lake Vintage Festival

VSCDA’s popular Elkhart Lake Vintage Festival (ELVF) at Road America is on the club’s schedule for Sept. 17-19, and will feature Peter Brock as special guest. To honor Brock, the event’s activities will include a 2.5-liter feature race in honor of the 50th anniversary of the 2.5-liter series won by his BRE Datsun 510s that also won the Trans Am 2-liter series. VSCDA member Steve Bonk put together the feature race and also made the arrangements for Brock to be part of the event.

Two of the car industry’s most revered designers have revealed their plans to launch a modern version of the C2 Chevrolet Corvette with an all-electric powertrain. The vehicle comes courtesy of Peter Brock and Ian Callum. For those that don’t know, Brock was the one who drew the original sketch that was picked by GM’s vice president of design Bill Mitchell to become the design of the C2 Corvette Sting Ray. Brock later went on to design the Shelby Daytona Coupe.
