Reliving Rangers: Pavel Buchnevich birthday hat trick does in the Devils

April 17th 2021, Pavel Buchnevich rang in his 26th birthday by scoring a hat-trick! The Hockey Gods helped the Rangers leading goal scorer at the time complete the feat with an empty-netter. Chris Kreider would add a second empty net goal right after and the Blueshirts skated out of MSG with a 6-3.

Pavel Buchnevich deserves a long term contract

One of the top priorities for the Rangers this offseason is locking up Pavel Buchnevich to a long term contract. Tom Urtz at Blueshirt Banter beat me to the punch here, and you should be reading his piece as well. Given his production, expected cap hit, and current roster construction, Buchnevich is a no-brainer to re-sign this offseason.

Rangers' Pavel Buchnevich suspended one game for hit on Capitals' Anthony Mantha

The Department of Player Safety decided that New York Rangers forward Pavel Buchnevich will have to sit out, giving him a one-game suspension after his high stick on Washington Capitals forward Anthony Mantha. It then progressed to Tuesday’s Rangers’ statement calling for the firing of NHL VP George Parros after Parros and the Department of Player Safety didn’t suspend Wilson, and then moved to Wednesday’s firing of Rangers’ GM Jeff Gorton and president John Davidson and Wednesday night’s repeated brawls against the Capitals. The latest Rangers news came Thursday, and it saw the team fined $250,000 by the NHL, and then Buchnevich suspended for a game for a high stick on Anthony Mantha Wednesday (as seen above). First, here’s discussion of that suspension from a Department of Player Safety video, as recapped by J.J. Regan of NBC 4 Washington:

Rangers’ Pavel Buchnevich suspended one game

Pavel Buchnevich banned one game for taking matters into his own hands. On Thursday afternoon, the NHL’s Dept. of Player Safety suspended a player from the Washington Capitals vs. New York Rangers series this week. No, not Tom Wilson. Rangers forward Pavel Buchnevich was banned one game for high-sticking Anthony...
