Paul Bettany On Honoring His Father with His Indelible Performance in Amazon’s ‘Uncle Frank’

There is a loneliness to Paul Bettany’s performance in Alan Ball’s personal drama, Uncle Frank. That sadness isn’t always present when his Frank is on screen, but it comes through in any scene when he travels from New York City to his hometown in South Carolina. The first time we see Frank at home, he isn’t hanging out with the other men watching sports or gossiping in the kitchen with his mother. He is alone and reading a book. Uncle Frank does a wonderful job of showing how gay people can feel alone when surrounded by others.

Paul Bettany No Longer Has a Marvel Contract

At this point wondering about any character that’s come and gone in the MCU is kind of difficult since there’s so much coming up that trying to keep it all together and wrapped in a neat little package isn’t the easiest thing in the world. But with that being said, the fact that Paul Bettany doesn’t have a Marvel contract at this time might mean that we won’t get to see what happens to the Vision for a while to come since the white version of the android that made an appearance in WandaVision and fought the fictional, recreated version of the character was gifted the memories of the original, but then flew off without another word about where he’d gone or if there was going to be any use for him again. There have been a few Marvel characters that have just disappeared over the years such as the Abomination, Bullseye, who was seen in a post-credit scene in Daredevil, and a few others. It’s hard to think that with such a wealth of heroes and villain that Marvel would be reckless enough to let any of them go without proper closure, but if one thinks back to the comics, there were entire runs in which a character might not have been seen or heard from, and people eventually just let it go. Once the character did return, people were overjoyed to see them and expressed a great deal of gratitude that they were back. White Vision is bound to come back at some point, meaning that Bettany will undergo contract signing if he’s still interested, but for now, it would appear that the MCU is going to focus more on the shows and movies that are going to push the story forward rather than having to answer questions on where Vision has been and what’s going on with his character.

New ‘Master and Commander’ Film in the Works, But Russell Crowe and Paul Bettany Probably Won’t Be Back

Almost 20 years after Peter Weir’s seafaring adventure film Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World sailed into theaters, 20th Century Studios is developing a new Master and Commander movie. This is something fans have spent years clamoring for – but it sounds like somebody didn’t focus enough on specifics when they asked their genie to grant them this wish. It sounds like this new iteration will not be a sequel that brings back stars Russell Crowe and Paul Bettany, but will instead be a prequel that focuses on younger versions of their characters.

Paul Bettany unsure if he’ll return as Vision

Paul Bettany says he may be hanging up his cape and no longer playing Vision, as his contract with Marvel has expired. Bettany told The Playlist, when asked about the future of the robotic Avenger: “I don’t have a contract. I don’t know that. I don’t know that at all.” He went on to add: “All that I do know is, as far as this sort of traunch of press goes, it’s for an Emmy push, which is for a limited series. So it doesn’t look like that’s happening again.”

Is Vision Finished in the MCU? Paul Bettany No Longer Has a Marvel Contract

It has yet to be revealed by the brass at Marvel Studios if we are ever going to see Paul Bettany return as Vision in the Marvel Cinematic Universe following the conclusion of WandaVision. The Actor has been a part of this universe for a long time and there is certainly room to explore the character further. Paul Bettany Shares Thoughts On Possibly Bringing WandaVision’s White Vision Back To The MCU

Disney+’s WandaVision managed to tell a complete story that focused on the relationship between Wanda Maximoff and Vision and, in the process, it carved out their futures in the MCU. While Wanda’s status as the Scarlet Witch was solidified, Vision’s fate was a bit more complex. Late in the series, it was revealed that S.W.O.R.D. reconstructed the original Vision (now White Vision), and he would ultimately do battle with the “Hex Vision” Wanda created. But in the end, White Vision would gain the memories of his Hex counterpart before flying off. It’s currently unclear as to what lies ahead for the character, and Vision actor Paul Bettany was recently asked about possibly bringing the character back to the MCU.

Vision Actor Paul Bettany Not Currently Contracted To Reappear In MCU

At the end of Marvel's WandaVision, the "White Vision" of the series found himself flying away while Wanda made peace with the version of her husband that she made from her mind and memories (before he disappeared forever). To that end, the White Vision is seemingly still out there, somewhere, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It's unclear when the character could pop-up again, there are a number of movies and TV shows in the pipeline, but even Paul Bettany says he's unclear when he's going to re-appear as the character in the MCU, revealing in an interview that he currently doesn't have a contract with Marvel Studios after the end of the show.

The Return of Vision Is Still Uncertain, According to Paul Bettany

We know when we’re going to see Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda again, but the same can’t be said about her WandaVision co-star. In a new interview, actor Paul Bettany said he isn’t sure when, or if, Vision could come back in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In fact, he doesn’t even have a contract in place.

Paul Bettany Doesn’t Know When Vision Will Return To the MCU

Paul Bettany Doesn’t Know When Vision Will Return To the MCU. Though the final episode of WandaVision certainly answered a lot of questions, it also prompted new ones as well. Namely, what happened to White Vision? As Wanda’s psychic grip on Westview began to unravel, viewers learned that her Vision was actually a projection of Wanda’s reality-warping powers. Meanwhile, the real Vision was getting reprogrammed (and repainted) in a S.W.O.R.D. lab. The last time we saw the character, he was flying away after having his memories restored. Now, Paul Bettany is reflecting on his most recent MCU appearance.

Paul Bettany Teases A Return For White Vision In The MCU

WandaVision introduced a bunch of plot threads that are bound to be picked up later on in the MCU. For one, Elizabeth Olsen will return as Scarlet Witch in Doctor Strange 2, and the twins will likely be back in a future Young Avengers project. But what about White Vision, the rebuilt synthezoid who appears to be a completely separate entity from Wanda’s beloved? He was last seen regaining his memories before flying out of Westview, but will we see him again?

Paul Bettany Has No Clue When ‘WandaVision’s’ White Vision Will Return & Has Mixed Feelings Over That Big Cameo Tease [Interview]

When Paul Bettany started doing press for “WandaVision,” it was a very different experience than his previous Marvel Studios publicity tours. First off, he promoted a limited series that would release one episode a week for nine weeks. Like many television programs, as the series wore on, the cast was asked to do additional interviews to help pump up the viewership. That’s dramatically different from a big studio film where talent mostly promotes the project for a few weeks and then disappears after it opens (unless there’s an awards campaign down the road).
