(Chicago, IL) — A South Side Chicago City Council member is taking a close look at running for Illinois Secretary of State. Third Ward Alderman Pat Dowell says that will commit the next six weeks to fundraising efforts to replace retiring incumbent Jesse White. If the chairman of the City Council’s Budget Committee decides to run, she’ll join candidates City Clerk Anna Valencia and former Illinois Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias. Cook County Clerk Karen Yarbrough is also considering running.
