Athletics' Pablo Reyes: Catches on with Oakland

Reyes signed a minor-league contract with the Athletics on Nov. 14. After being outrighted off the Brewers' 40-man roster in late October, Reyes elected free agency rather than sticking around in the Milwaukee organization. Though he won't immediately get a spot on Oakland's 40-man roster, Reyes should have the opportunity to compete for a utility role with the big club in spring training. Reyes saw action in six games at the MLB level in 2022, going 4-for-15 at the dish.

Brewers' Pablo Reyes: Sent back to Triple-A

The Brewers optioned Reyes to Triple-A Nashville on Monday. Reyes' demotion likely sets the stage for the Brewers to activate right-hander Brandon Woodruff (hand) from the 15-day injured list ahead of his scheduled start Tuesday at Tampa Bay. The 28-year-old utility man was up with Milwaukee for just one day and didn't appear off the bench in Sunday's win over the Blue Jays.

Reyes was recalled from Triple-A Nashville on Sunday. Reyes was promoted in early June and appeared in four games for Milwaukee, and he went 4-for-14 with a walk and a run before being sent back to Nashville. Reyes was optioned to Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday. Reyes had limited playing time during his time with the major-league club and started just four games after he was called up Aug. 24. He should see more consistent at-bats in Nashville, while his demotion makes room on the active roster for Brett Anderson (shoulder), who was reinstated from the 10-day injured list.

Brewers' Pablo Reyes: Scores on highlight-reel play

Reyes went 2-for-4 with a double, a run and a stolen base in Saturday's victory over the Cubs. Reyes started Saturday for just the second time all month, but he made the most of the opportunity, tallying his sixth extra-base hit and third steal of the season while also generating a highlight with a Houdini-like slide into home that gave the Brewers a two-run lead in the eighth inning. With the Brewers clinching a playoff spot, Reyes could get more starts down the stretch to help keep the regulars fresh.
