Olivia Holt Channeled Little Red Riding Hood at Dior’s Garden Party

On Friday, March 18 in Los Angeles, Hollywood’s brightest rising stars could be seen taking photographs in front of clusters of pink peonies, vibrant foxgloves, and tall stalks of pampas grass. But the celebrities—Natalie Portman, Taylour Paige, and Thuso Mbedu among them—weren’t at the Exposition Park Rose Garden. They had paid a visit to Dior’s Miss Dior Millefiori Garden Pop-Up party, to celebrate the launch of the maison’s new Miss Dior Eau de Parfum. The evening was a who’s-who of young Hollywood: Yara Shahidi, Brittany O’Grady, Lexi Underwood, and Demi Singleton were all in attendance. Also on the VIP list was the actress and singer Olivia Holt. The Cloak & Dagger star, who also appears in the Freeform series Cruel Summer, tells W that Dior was “the first name in fashion I ever gravitated towards.” So it’s fitting that Holt opted for this look by creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri, which called to mind “Little Red Riding Hood chic, for sure,” she says. “The hood on the coat? I mean, c’mon. Iconic.” Here, Holt shares a peek into her event prep routine, which includes plenty of time in the hair and makeup chair to perfect her chic updo, and a rotating playlist of Frank Ocean and Mac Miller.

Olivia Holt Is Just Getting Started

It’s a sunny afternoon in Los Angeles, and Olivia Holt is lying on a photo studio floor, posing with the season’s It accessories. Thanks to a decade of experience in front of the camera, getting the perfect shot is almost second nature to her. But long before she found herself in a fashion story with Salvatore Ferragamo, she could only imagine where living out her childhood dream of becoming an actor and singer would take her.

Olivia Holt Is Still Finding Herself

In 2019, it seemed as if Olivia Holt had found something like freedom: She'd landed a leading role beside Aubrey Joseph on the Freeform hit Cloak & Dagger, a Marvel cross-over series. The sci-fi-infused romance, while undoubtedly a fantastical superhero romp, had a darker underbelly that the young actress and singer could never have explored as a screen queen for Disney Channel, where she'd spent the majority of her career. Finally, here was something meaty and—dare she admit it—dark. A welcome signal that the world would finally let her grow up.

Olivia Holt on Cruel Summer's biggest twists and her "incredibly challenging" shoot

Cruel Summer finale spoilers follow. At the start of our chat, Olivia Holt tells us that she's planning to set up a book club with her friend where they read the same book every month. She's joking, of course, but it's clear that the book in question, a self-help guide called The Four Agreements, has really helped Olivia.
