Ochai Agbaji

Playmaking from Ochai Agbaji in Cavs Summer League is wishful thinking

It wasn’t an ambitious selection for the Cleveland Cavaliers at #14 in the 2022 NBA Draft in going with Ochai Agbaji there. Agbaji looks to have the makings of a terrific catch-and-shoot player on the perimeter for Cleveland, and over his time at Kansas, did progress in that area. He knocked down 40.7 percent from three-point range as a senior, and 37.7 percent of his three-point attempts as a junior, with the volume being 6.5 and 6.9 per game in those seasons.

Cleveland Cavaliers’ summer league roster highlighted by rookies Ochai Agbaji, Isaiah Mobley and Luke Travers

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Cleveland Cavaliers have set their roster for Las Vegas Summer League -- a team highlighted by three of the four rookies from the 2022 NBA Draft class. No. 14 pick Ochai Agbaji will be joined by second-rounders Isaiah Mobley and Luke Travers. No. 39 pick Khalifa Diop, one of the draft-and-stash players, is not participating. Diop is already back overseas, transitioning from last year’s club Gran Canaria to a new one. Sources say Diop has numerous interested suitors and may sign to play in the EuroLeague -- a step up from Liga ACB. While the Cavs were initially hoping Diop could at least participate in the summer camp, that won’t be the case.

3 reasons we could see Ochai Agbaji break into Cavs starting lineup

The Cleveland Cavaliers picked Ochai Agbaji from Kansas at No.14 in the recent NBA Draft and that decision has been met with a mixed bag of reactions. While he’s not a prospect that some thought might have more upside like AJ Griffin of Duke or Malaki Branham of Ohio State, he is coming to the Cavs with four years of collegiate experience, including a National Championship. He’s also likely among the readiest players in the draft with his shooting ability and much-needed help in the team scoring department.

Why Cleveland Cavaliers decided to pick Kansas’ Ochai Agbaji in 2022 NBA draft

LAWRENCE — As Ochai Agbaji watched the picks go by last week at the NBA draft, there were a few things on his mind. Agbaji, who spent the past four years playing at Kansas, wasn’t worried about when his name would be called. He was just hoping someone would believe in him enough to select him. Up until the moment he learned where his professional career would begin, he felt blessed to be in that position and share that moment with friends and family.

Cavs’ trade plans for Isaac Okoro after drafting Ochai Agbaji

That sparked some rumors that the Cavs could potentially trade Isaac Okoro to open up more minutes for Agbaji, but it appears that will not be the case.
