The Calgary Flames have to try and stave off elimination at home Sunday night, and they might be without one of their big, intimidating defensemen. Nikita Zadorov will have a hearing with the Department of Player Safety regarding the check to the head of Dallas Stars forward Luke Glendening Friday night.

Zadorov notched an assist, two PIM and a plus-2 rating in Wednesday's 3-1 win over the Stars in Game 5. Zadorov had a lead pass to Mikael Backlund, who then set up Andrew Mangiapane's go-ahead goal at 10:38 of the third period. While limited to a third-pairing role, Zadorov's been effective at what's expected of him -- physicality and defense. He has two assists, five shots on net, 14 hits, six PIM and a plus-3 rating through five playoff contests.

Zadorov picked up his first postseason point since logging three goals and two assists in 15 playoff outings with the Avalanche in 2019-20. He's a fixture on the Flames' third pairing, so Zadorov's place in the lineup should be fairly secure.

The offense won't always be there, but the 26-year-old will regularly make a physical impact.
