Penguins' Nathan Beaulieu: Removed from injured reserve

Beaulieau (lower body) has been removed from injured reserve Thursday, per the NHL media site. Beaulieu is unlikely to see significant minutes in the postseason even if he does manage to get into a game. Considering the 29-year-old's limited offensive upside, he will be hard-pressed to offer more than low-end fantasy value even if he does play at some point.

Penguins' Nathan Beaulieu: Should be available for postseason

Beaulieau (lower body) is expected to be an option for the Penguins in the playoffs, Josh Getzoff of PensTV reports Friday. Beaulieau has yet to suit up in a Penguins sweater, having already been sidelined with his lower-body injury when acquired by the club at the trade deadline. Given his physical style of play, if Beaulieau does get into the lineup it would likely be in favor of Marcus Pettersson or John Marino.

Penguins' Nathan Beaulieu: Practices with team Tuesday

Beaulieu (lower body) took the ice with his teammates for the first time Tuesday, Josh Getzoff of PensTV reports. Beaulieu hasn't played since early March when he was with the Jets due to his lower-body injury. Even once cleared to play, the 29-year-old defenseman is far from a lock for the lineup, though his 6-foot-2 frame could see him pressed into service in a third-pairing role in order to give the Penguins more size.

Penguins' Nathan Beaulieu: Begins skating

Beaulieau (lower body) has resumed skating back in Pittsburgh, Josh Getzoff of PensTV reports. Beaulieu didn't travel with the team to Long Island and has yet to join the team on the ice, so his return is likely still a little ways away. The blueliner was dealing with his lower-body issue when the club acquired him at the deadline and has yet to make his Penguins debut. At this point, even if he does get back to 100 percent, Beaulieu is far from a lock to play and could serve as an emergency depth option.

Penguins' Nathan Beaulieu: Brought in via trade

Beaulieau (lower body) was acquired by the Penguins from the Jets on Monday in exchange for a conditional 2022 seventh-round pick. It's a bit of a strange move for the Penguins considering Beaulieau is currently on long-term injured reserve. Even when healthy this year, the defenseman has struggled to secure regular minutes in the lineup, having logged just 24 contests in which he's averaged 10:46 of ice time. If he does eventually play for the Penguins at some point, Beaulieau will be hard-pressed to offer anything in the way of fantasy value given his limited offensive upside.
