Nathan Donald Diaz (born April 16, 1985) is an American professional mixed martial artist, currently signed with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Diaz is the younger brother of former Strikeforce Welterweight Champion and WEC Welterweight Champion, Nick Diaz. Prior to signing with the UFC, Diaz competed in World Extreme Cagefighting, Strikeforce, and Pancrase. He has been in the UFC since winning The Ultimate Fighter 5. Diaz is tied with Joe Lauzon for the second most UFC bonus awards, with 15 in total. Nate Diaz, along with Conor McGregor, held the record for the highest UFC pay-per-view buy rate for their contest at UFC 202, until it was broken by UFC 229's buyrate. As of January 27, 2020, he is #9 in the UFC welterweight rankings.

Dustin Poirier still has his heart set on a fight with Nate Diaz. At UFC 269, Poirier lost his second bid for the undisputed lightweight title, getting submitted by Charles Oliveira in the third round. After the loss, he began calling for the UFC to rebook a fight with Diaz. The two men had at one point been set to face each other at UFC 230 back in 2018, but the bout fell apart.

This past weekend, Michael Chandler stole the show, turning in a Knockout of the Year contender when he flatlined Tony Ferguson with a front kick at UFC 274. Following his win, Chandler called for a fight with Charles Oliveira or Conor McGregor, but it was the man who called him out that got Chandler’s attention. On Tuesday, Nate Diaz took to Twitter where he told the UFC to send him a contract to fight Chandler, something Chandler was quick to run with as well.
