Moustakas is out of the lineup for Sunday's game in Toronto. Toronto is bringing lefty Yusei Kikuchi to the hill for the series finale, so the lefty-hitting Moustakas will retreat to the bench as the Reds stock up on extra right-handed bats. Tyler Stephenson will get a day off behind the plate to fill in as the designated hitter in place of Moustakas, who went 8-for-36 with two home runs, four walks, eight runs and four RBI while starting in each of the Reds' last 10 games.
Mike Moustakas was doing his best Jason Voorhees impersonation on Friday the 13th as he was just killing the Pittsburgh Pirates pitchers on the night, hitting two home runs as the Cincinnati Reds routed their division rivals 8-2 on Friday night to guarantee at least a split of their 4-game series. The win was Cincinnati’s 6th in the last eight games.
Moustakas went 2-for-5 with a pair of solo homers in Friday's 8-2 win over the Pirates. The multi-homer game was Moustakas' first since September of 2020. He gave the Reds the lead with a solo shot off Mitch Keller in the top of the fourth inning and later capped the scoring with another homer off Heath Hembree in the seventh. He's now hitting .347 with three homers in 14 games since returning from a biceps injury in late April.
The Reds announced to reporters, including Charlie Goldsmith of the Cincinnati Enquirer, that Mike Moustakas has been placed on the injured list. No designation was given for Moustakas’s placement, which suggests he will be on the COVID-related injured list. Outfielder Ronnie Dawson has been called up as a substitute player.
The Cincinnati Reds made several roster moves this afternoon, starting with activating infielder Mike Moustakas from the injured list. His stay there was short lived, missing just yesterday’s game against Milwaukee. Moustakas, who started out the season by hitting just .129/.125/.129 through the first nine games of the season before missing 10 days on the injured list, hit .344/.462/.531 with 5 walks and 6 strikeouts in the 10 games since. To make room for Moustakas on the roster the team sent outfielder Ronnie Dawson back to Triple-A Louisville. Dawson had only been up for the one day while Moustakas was out and he did not get into last night’s win over the Brewers.
CINCINNATI -- The Reds placed infielder Mike Moustakas on the injured list Monday without designation, the latest Cincinnati player apparently sidelined by COVID-19 issues on the last-place club. Moustakas became the 14th player on the Reds' injured list. First baseman Joey Votto and second baseman Jonathan India are also out...
Mike Moustakas is the latest player on the Cincinnati Reds roster to be placed on the injured list. He’s been put on the COVID injured list. As always this is your reminder that being placed on that list does not mean a player has tested positive for COVID but that they could also simply be showing symptoms that could be that. There is no timetable for how long a player must remain on the injured list in these cases. Taking the place of Moustakas on the Reds active roster will be outfielder Ronnie Dawson, who was called up as a “substitute player”.
The Cincinnati Reds placed third baseman Mike Moustakas on the COVID-related injured list on Monday ahead of their series opener
It's been a struggle for Mike Moustakas since joining the Cincinnati Reds. An abbreviated season in 2020, a position change in both 2020 and 2021, and a rash of injuries during his first two-plus seasons in the Queen City have hampered Moose's ability to establish any sort of momentum. But...
The Reds reinstated Moustakas from the COVID-19-related injured list Tuesday, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports. Moustakas was placed on the IL on Monday, but he'll be eligible to rejoin the Reds a day later after he either tested out of MLB's COVID-19 protocols or shed any symptoms that may have been related to the virus. Given the brevity of his absence, Moustakas should immediately settle back into an everyday role in the corner infield.

Moustakas went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run and two RBI in Tuesday's loss to the Brewers. Facing one of his former clubs, Moustakas showed a little life at the plate. His two extra-base hits Tuesday were his first two extra-base hits of the season. His plate skills and hand speed seem to be declining rapidly, but at least while he's on this Reds squad, his playing time should be secure.
Cincinnati Reds manager David Bell gave Joey Votto the day off on Sunday. Well, a day off from the field anyway. Votto still occupied the No. 4 hole in Bell's lineup, but not as the team's first baseman. Rather, Votto was Cincinnati's designated hitter on Sunday afternoon in Denver. Mike...
