FSU loses 3-0 to Troy on Saturday as Mike Martin Jr. gets tossed

TALLAHASSEE -- No. 15 Florida State lost 3-0 to Troy on Saturday afternoon at Dick Howser Stadium in Tallahassee, Fla. It was the third time this season that FSU has been shut out by an opponent. FSU head coach Mike Martin Jr. was ejected by home plate umpire Gabriel Colon after Wyatt Crowell was called out on a strike three looking with two on and one down in the top of the eighth. FSU trailed 2-0 at the time. It was the first time Martin Jr. has been ejected as FSU's head coach.

Florida State baseball will travel to Blacksburg tomorrow for their first road series against Virginia Tech. Mike Martin Jr. met with the media today before they hit the road Thursday. Junior said that they had an intense scrimmage yesterday after the USF postponement. He also mentioned that the game was postponed because of three inconclusive tests, but they all came back negative later in the day.

The Seminoles were without Elijah Cabell last weekend and that could be the case against Pitt as well. Junior said the outfielder will likely be a game-time decision. He is still day-to-day with a hamstring injury.

Florida State baseball is just one week out from opening day against North Florida. The Seminoles haven’t played a competitive game since last March, but have been scrimmaging at a high rate through the fall and spring. The ‘Noles are as deep as any team in the nation on the mound and have loads of power potential at the plate.
