On the afternoon of September 17, 1961 Mike Hailwood rode a Honda RC162 to victory in the Swedish 250cc grand prix to clinch his first world title. Just three months earlier the 21-year-old had won his first Isle of Man TT, aboard an RC144 125cc twin.
