Padres' Mike Clevinger: Whiffs six in no-decision

Clevinger didn't factor into the decision during Tuesday's 5-4 win over the Cubs, allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits and two walks with six strikeouts in 4.1 innings. Clevinger put multiple runners on base in every inning except the fourth, with the big blow coming on an Alfonso...

Padres' Mike Clevinger makes first start since Tommy John; righty's return strengthens club's rotation depth

The Padres and Guardians were in action Wednesday afternoon in the first game of a doubleheader and it was Mike Clevinger taking the hill for the Padres. This was the first outing for Clevinger since Game 1 of the 2020 NLDS, in which he was removed after just 26 pitches. He has since had Tommy John surgery and his return was further delayed by a knee injury.

Mike Clevinger overwhelmed by return to Progressive Field mound: Guardians takeaways

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Mike Clevinger looked around and told his old pitching coach Carl Willis, “I didn’t miss a thing, did I?’. In a way he was right. The Cleveland weather, like it usually is in early May, was cold, wet and misty Wednesday at Progressive Field. Clevinger warmed up in a tunnel right by his old clubhouse, while exchanging small talk of his buddy Zach Plesac.

Padres vs. Guardians prediction: Bet on Mike Clevinger in return

Congratulations to Nina “Weird Al” Jankowicz. Her rewritten “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” was so funny it landed her a job as head of the “Disinformation Board.” Some real/fake issues Nina will have to decide on: the border problem, inflation, John Sterling’s play-by-play, CNN, whether Stitches is a public handicapper and whether “My Pillow” is the most comfortable pillow you will ever own? She has work cut out for her.  Mike Clevinger’s back from Tommy John surgery and excited to make his return for San Diego against his former team. Cleveland, now the Guardians, counters with Zach Plesac, who was whacked for six runs in 3 ²/₃ innings by the Angels in his last start. Play 10 units on the Padres.  Refuse to lose! The Yankees (10) and Stitches (6) stretched their winning streaks. Yanks 3, Jays 2. Gleyber Torres knocked in all three runs. Up +238 pepitones.

Padres vs. Guardians Prediction and Odds for Tuesday, May 3 (Predicting the Return of Mike Clevinger)

The San Diego Padres look to grow their lead in the NL West when they kick off a short two-game series against the Cleveland Guardians tonight. San Diego has been one of the best teams in baseball over the last two weeks with a 10-3 record in their last 13 games. However, their recent success is a bit deceiving. Eight of those ten wins came against either the Reds or Pirates. They are two of the worst teams in the MLB. The Padres swept the Reds twice in the last 12 days.

Taking stock of what Cleveland Guardians received from San Diego for Mike Clevinger

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- It’s not time for a complete audit, but it seems like a quick inventory is in order.
