Rocker Turned Radio Host Michael Stanley Gets Giant Mural In Cleveland.

Michael Stanley, the Cleveland rock legend who enjoyed a second career as an award-winning radio and TV host, will be remembered in his hometown with a 2,200-square foot mural. The Cleveland icon, who died in March from lung cancer, will be immortalized with a large-scale tribute mural located on Payne Avenue in the city’s Midtown neighborhood.

CLEVELAND — Editor's note: The video in the player above is from a story published on March 25, 2021. A new Michael Stanley mural is coming to Northeast Ohio this summer. According to Grafitti HeArt, Cleveland-born artist WRDSMTH will produce a series of new artistic walls as part of an art tour showcasing graffiti and murals around Cleveland. The 'How Do I Love Thee Tour' will include up to 15 WRDSMTH murals around Cleveland, Lakewood and Cleveland Heights.

Long live rock! Michael Stanley mural to rise in Midtown

This summer, London-based artist WRDSMTH will create a 2,200 square foot tribute mural to Michael Stanley on a warehouse building at 2630 Payne Ave. The artwork, which will be visible from I-90 and the neighborhood, is a part of the “How do I love thee” tour spearheaded by Graffiti HeArt, which will add 15 murals throughout Cleveland, Cleveland Heights, and Lakewood.

WNCX Celebrates Michael Stanley Day Thursday March 25

Michael Stanley Day is Thursday March 25, WNCX will tell the story of The Michael Stanley Band in segments each hour throughout the day followed by a song from the band. At 9pm we will air "MSB Live at the Ritz" a concert recorded in 1983. In the Classic Cafe, Bill Szymczyk, legendary producer who's worked on Michael Stanley's albums since Silk will be a special guest. We'll follow that by debuting a song off Michael's final album "Tough Room." We will also participate in the 10:35 am airing of "My Town" along with many stations in Cleveland, Akron, and Youngstown. Please celebrate the life of our dear friend and legend with us.

As the latest round of stimulus checks hits bank accounts, iHeartMedia radio stations are offering to double the amount. The “Double Your Stimulus” nationwide contest has listeners texting in a keyword for a chance to win $1,400. The keyword is announced six times a day on participating radio stations, including CHR “Z100” WHTZ, AC KOST Los Angeles (103.5) and “Rock 95.5” WCHI-FM Chicago. “Given today’s challenging times due to the pandemic, iHeartMedia is seeing a nearly 20 percent higher response rate than any other cash contests in the past with winners benefiting from all across the nation,” the company said in a release. The “Double Your Stimulus” sweepstakes runs through April 2.
