On April 28, 1990, MC Hammer stutter-stepped to No. 1 on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart with his third LP, Please Hammer Don't Hurt 'Em, thanks to the runaway success of its hit single "U Can't Touch This." The set ultimately spent 29 weeks in the coveted top spot.

Digital Underground's Gregory Jacobs who performed as Shock G and Humpty Hump, died earlier this week aged 57. Jacobs' father, Edward Racker, confirmed the sad news to TMZ, and said his son was found dead in a hotel room in Tampa, Fla. on Thursday, April 22. His cause of death is unknown but Racker said authorities would carry out an autopsy.
