Is Matt Corral a legitimate Heisman Trophy candidate? The answer is a resounding yes. In Lane Kiffin's and coordinator Jeff Lebby's offense, he could be at the top of the list by season's end. The Chic-fil-A Kickoff Classic is already promoting the Ole Miss quarterback as a candidate for the most prestigious award in college football. Other outside media organizations are, too. Athlon Sports recently listed Corral as one of its top 10 preseason favorites for the honor.

Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corral earned most valuable player honors Saturday, as he led Ole Miss to a 26-20 victory over 11th-ranked Indiana in the Outback Bowl. Corral completed 30-of-44 passes for 342 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. He did so without the help of about 80 percent of the Rebels' receiving production from the regular season due to injuries and opt outs.

Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corral threw five first-half interceptions and fumbled the ball at a critical moment on the Rebels' final offensive possession of the game Saturday night in a 53-48 loss to the LSU Tigers. With Ole Miss leading LSU 41-40 on 4th and goal in the 4th quarter, an official got trucked at the goal line of a Rebels touchdown. Quarterback Matt Corral faked the handoff to the running back and attempted to run the bootleg into the end zone. He was successful in reaching the goal line for the touchdown; however, the official was apparently fooled on the play action, and Corral had to run over him at the goal line.

NEW ORLEANS – was named as one of 12 finalists for the Manning Award on Thursday. The Manning Award was created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in honor of the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning.
