Mark Scheifele Hasn’t Officially Asked Jets For Trade

The 29-year-old centreman Mark Scheifele will be a hot commodity if he ever makes it to the trade market. For now, we’ll hold off on announcing a deal is in the works because, according to reports, Scheifele hasn’t officially requested a trade.

Jets' Mark Scheifele: Finishes season on shelf

Scheifele (upper body) ended the 2021-22 campaign on the sidelines due to injury but still managed to reach the 70-point threshold for the fourth time in his career. No doubt the fact Scheifele was unavailable for the Jets' final nine games of the season played a part in Winnipeg failing to qualify for the playoffs. Barring a dramatic offseason dispute between the 29-year-old center and the organization, Scheifele should be back in a first-line role for the team next season and figures to remain a top-end fantasy option.

Jets' Mark Scheifele: Likely done for the year

Coach Dave Lowry doesn't expect Scheifele (upper body) to return this season, Ken Wiebe of Sportsnet reports. Assuming he doesn't make an unexpected return in the last week of the season, Scheifele will finish the year with 29 goals and 70 points through 67 contests. Although the Jets have yet to release an expected timetable for his recovery, at this point it's probably safe to assume Scheifele will be ready for next season's training camp.

Jets' Mark Scheifele: Left back home

Scheifele (upper body) didn't travel with the team for its four-game road trip, Mike McIntyre of the Winnipeg Free Press reports. By the time Scheifele could return to action when the team returns to Winnipeg, it may not be worth reinserting the 29-year-old center into the lineup. If the Ontario native does play again this year, he needs just one more goal to get back over the 30-goal threshold for the first time since 2018-19 and for just the third time in his NHL career.
