Mark Edward Kozelek is a singer-songwriter and musician from America. He has garnered fame for being the vocalist and primary recording artist of the indie-folk act Sun Kil Moon as well as the vocalist, guitarist and founding member of the indie rock band Red House Painters. With the latter group, he put out six studio albums between 1989 and 2001. After it dissolved, Sun Kil Moon was formed with some members, including Kozelek, of the other group. Since then, they have released ten studio albums and two collaborations with the British band Jesu. At present, Kozelek is the only permanent member of the group, which effectively makes the phrase “Sun Kil Moon” his primary recording moniker. He is also active as a solo artist and has released 11 studio albums and three extended plays. He is originally from Ohio and began harbouring musical aspirations when he was quite young. Kozelek is also an actor and has appeared in films like ‘Almost Famous’ and ‘Vanilla Sky’. In 2011, he made his directorial debut with the documentary ‘On Tour’, which revolves around his European tour.
