NY Jets need to set an example and extend Marcus Maye

The NY Jets don't have to sign franchise safety Marcus Maye to a long-term contract. In fact, you could argue that based on cap management, his age, and position, that they probably shouldn't. But sometimes, going against business logic is for the greater good of the franchise. The Jets have...

Jets minicamp: Marcus Maye shows up for practice. So what now, as contract stalemate continues?

Jets safety Marcus Maye’s contract stalemate continues. But he won’t be a holdout, at least not during this week’s mandatory, two-practice minicamp. Marcus Maye expected to attend Jets' minicamp

The Jets cuffed Maye earlier this year with a franchise tender worth $10.61M. Meanwhile, he wants an extension (and a sizable pay bump). Jets coach hopeful Marcus Maye deal will get done

Jets coach Robert Saleh said he is hopeful that safety Marcus Maye will have a new long-term contract soon. “I have a tremendous amount of respect for what they’re going through,” Saleh said of Maye and his agent. “You guys know my philosophy. I think these kids have earned the right to ask for whatever they can, especially when they do things the right way like he has. [General manager] Joe [Douglas] and his staff are working relentlessly to get something done. We go with it and we support him all around the organization.”
