As far as we know, Marcus King never went to the crossroads at midnight, but he did have a guitar in his hands about the same time he learned to walk. Being the fourth generation in the family line of musicians, King thrived early in the roots, rock and blues scenes of Greenville, S.C., and fully arrived upon teaming with Dan Auerbach for his 2020 solo debut, El Dorado.

Marty Stuart's Late Night Jam — an annual all-star after-hours show that marks the unofficial kick-off to CMA Fest week in Nashville — returns next month to the Ryman Auditorium.  Stuart and his tastemaking lineup perform June 8 at the so-called Mother Church of Country Music, a Wednesday night. Music kicks off at 9 p.m. and, per the show's name, artists typically play on past midnight.  ...

Keith’s DJ Pick this week is “Hard Working Man” by Marcus King! This is the first single from King’s forthcoming sophomore album, Young Blood. In a Facebook post about the song, King admits that he was going through a rough time while writing it. “I was going through a lot during the album with addictions, breakups, and addictions because of breakups. It was good to get it out in this way,” King reflected. The song was written by King and Dan Auerbach, guitarist and vocalist of The Black Keys. King mentioned that this song is meant to encapsulate “that big arena rock sound”, and we think it definitely does!

Blues guitar master Marcus King has announced his second solo album, Young Blood. Like his previous solo effort – 2020's El Dorado – the record was produced by fellow bluesman and The Black Keys leader Dan Auerbach, who revealed in a statement that every song was recorded live, something that's “rare in this day and age."
