The Browns have signed very troubled defensive tackle Malik McDowell. The Browns have made a head-scratching signing with the acquisition of Malik McDowell, a former second-round pick of the Seattle Seahawks from back in 2017. McDowell has never played a down of NFL football, and the soon-to-25-year-old is someone the team should have done a much better job doing their research on.

The Browns made an intriguing addition on Monday. Cleveland has signed defensive tackle Malik McDowell to a contract, the team announced. McDowell was drafted 35th overall by the Seahawks in 2017, but has never played in an NFL game. A serious ATV accident that summer landed him on the NFI list for the whole season, and he was arrested a couple of times for DUI and disorderly conduct. The Seahawks waived him in July of 2018 with a non-football injury designation, and there were questions about whether he would ever be medically cleared to play football again.

However, after being medically cleared by several doctors in March, the Browns feel confident enough in his health to give the 24-year-old defensive tackle another opportunity in the league.

This past weekend the Seattle Seahawks added three players to the roster in the 2021 NFL Draft. In the second round they selected D’Wayne Eskridge out of Western Michigan, in the fourth round they added Tre Brown from Oklahoma and in the sixth round picked up Stone Forsythe from Oklahoma.
