CDC sticks to new COVID isolation guidance, rebuffs extra tests

COVID-19 cases have sharply risen again across the US and around the world, with the new Omicron variant accounting for most new cases as of late December. The winter surge has prompted many experts and officials to reemphasize the importance of masking indoors and social distancing, in addition to getting vaccinated, including booster shots, which are now available to anyone in the US age 16 or older.

Australia Olympic gold medalist Madison Wilson hospitalized with COVID-19 as ‘precaution’

Swimmer Madison Wilson, winner of an Olympic gold medal for Australia this year, has been hospitalized with COVID-19. The vaccinated 27-year-old announced on Instagram that she had been “moved into hospital for further care and observation” after falling ill, adding that she has underlying conditions that probably enabled a breakthrough infection.

Medical fund created for Madison Wilson

A fund drive has been set up to help the family of Madison Wilson of Humboldt, who was critically injured in a traffic accident Monday. Wilson was the passenger in a car that careened off the roadway on Bridge Street, striking a guardrail before rolling down into a ravine, just west of the Neosho River bridge.
